Why do these threads keep popping up? Go learn to ride. You can be faster than just about anyone if you have solid skills. For the love of god lets stop having these "I r slow shud I get turboz for my SV to keep up wit my buddyz?!?! LOL" threads.

Re: how to improve performance 03 SV650

what kind of performance?

Top end? 0-60? Cornering? There's a ton of different definitions of performance depending on who's doing the defining.

switching out the sprockets can get you the 0-60, but after that they will pretty much pull away no matter what you do to your bike. your better off selling your SV and getting an inline 6 if that is what you do. on the twisties however, you have a good chance if you simply practice.

edit: oh, and learn to use the search function.... seriously.

Re: how to improve performance 03 SV650

1) Replace your counter-sprocket with a 'one less' (tooth) sprocket.
2) Put a free flow can on the bike, put a spacer under each of the bolts that hold the front of your tank down... raising the tank and increasing the air flow, then remove or replace your air box snorkle with the snorkle off an SV1000.
3) Pay a suspension guru somewhere to help you get your "sag" (suspension) set correctly for your weight.
4) Ride smooth, look through the apex of the upcoming corner, arms bent & relaxed, don't try to copy squids hanging off the seat or getting a knee down.
5) Slow in, fast out.... do all your braking & slowing BEFORE you enter a turn, accelerate out.
6) ABSOLUTELY NEVER, EVER, N E V E R .... Try to keep up with riders faster than you! Don't ride over your head.

--- RIDE YOUR OWN RIDE ---

Attend some instructional Track Days so that people who know what they're talking about can point out to you some of your bad habits and teach some good habits.
