Couldn't I just replace the connectors on the RR (which are dongles) and connectors from the bike going into the stock RR with something from easternbeaver and call it a day?
Yeah, you can do that. That's what I'm doing now. I have the same FH008BA coming in.

So with that setup, you wouldn't need to cut off and reattach new connectors to the input and output wires? No additional fuse box needed?

I think the differences, if any, would be in the connectors/wiring. It's the same FH008 core. If there's four wires (2 from each side) instead of two, then you have to splice wires together on each side so four becomes two, IIRC.

As the R/R just conveniently flaked out after I rode my new 1st gen home from buying it 3.5 hours away, I have to do another R/R job on this new bike. Just bought a 2006 CBR600 R/R from eBay and a wiring kit from EasternBeaver ... since D'Ecosse is apparently AWOL? He definitely helped me with my first R/R swap, and I'm glad to be going into this one with confidence. It's easy once you know how to solder and crimp (practice practice!).
Thanks for the input. Yea, I am not sure where D'Ecosse went, I sent him a couple PM's and he hasn't responded to either of them and it has been a while (and he has logged in a few times since the PM's)

Re: Testimonial: D'Ecosse's R/R Wiring Mod

You'd still need to cut them off and attach new connectors and the fuse. Look at the FH008 connector wire set on EasternBeaver; that's what you need.

Re: Testimonial: D'Ecosse's R/R Wiring Mod

So if I want to buy a FH008 online, what do I search for? A search for just "FH008" or "FH008 regulator rectifier" comes up with little to no results.

Also, is there any local places, such as any chain hardware store, or auto parts store, that I can purchase all the connectors and everything else needed for the mod? Or am I forced to buy online through EasternBeaver?

Re: Testimonial: D'Ecosse's R/R Wiring Mod

Look for a '07+ CBR 600 R/R. You can use any 2 and 3 wire water proof connectors that are for 14gauge wiring. A good auto parts store or other auto electronics supply house should stock them. Google Metripack connectors and see what comes up. You don't need to buy through EasternBeaver, but I do like the company. You can buy the wire and the fuse holder in auto parts stores as well. For the 30A fuse I would use a holder for the larger style fuse, not the mini.

Here's another company that carries everything you need if you want to spend the money. You can buy connectors only if you wish instead of the entire kit. http://roadstercycle.com/. I've never bought from this company, so research.

Re: Testimonial: D'Ecosse's R/R Wiring Mod

This thread shows what you need to get if you'll be getting parts individually/locally.

http://www.svrider.com/forum/showthread.php?t=111850

Not sure of the Metri-pack connectors are available anywhere local, might have to order them online.

As far as which RR, there is a search string to plug into ebay to get a list of RRs that work on the SV. Look though this thread, and others.

Napa Auto Parts has some if you have one locally.

http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...176_0293960892

There's also this alternator extension harness that would probably work for the +/- pair but they're not weatherproof. http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...132_0314014112

I'm thinking about going this route but I think after you buy all the parts you could just buy one from Easternbeaver.

For some reason all the links end up with an error message on the napa site.
