Home made magnetized oil pan plug
I changed the oil on my friends Monster the other day and admired his nice magnetized oil pan plug with all the gearbox metal swarf stuck to it that I was motivated to make my own for my 2002 SV:
Before:
After I machined a hole in the end to snugly fit the rare earth magnet:
And finally, when I was tidying up the machine shop I dropped a milling machine chuck on my thumb... ouch:

Unfortunately I didn't have a 2nd gen plug lying around, not that I knew they had magnets anyway, but I did have a magnet and a machine shop and a spare 5 minutes.
et voila !!

Well, the thumb injury came after the oil pan plug modification and wasn't in the master plan. It was all really good up until that point.

Re: Home made magnetized oil pan plug
FWIW that magnet looks a little beefier then the one in the second gen plugs.

Re: Home made magnetized oil pan plug
Sell it as new and improved!
I got the the 2. Gen plugs but of course forgot them at the last oil change.
You could also refit the second gen plugs with rare earth magnets for better performance.
