Re: "My Green Connector Melted" rebuild

Yesterday sucked. Ended up going out for 2 hrs and crashed at the end with 1/10 of a mile to my driveway. I was taking it easy all day since I just threw the bike back together and wanted to make sure everything was operating as it should before April 10th (first track day). I was pushing the time and the sun went down and it was too dark to be riding with the amount of gravel still on the road. I was coming up to an traffic light to make a left turn into my development and didnt see the ENTIRE turn lane was a blanket of gravel. This was all my fault as I again I was riding too late and I had my tinted visor on, so I was completely unaware of the gravel. I was going about 10mph with my front brake compressed (not jammed, just slowing to a stop), but as everyone knows front brake+any speed+ gravel= pavement. Again, I didnt even see the gravel so I was braking normally. If i would have seen it, I would have adjusted and not went down. No damage really except what you see in the pics, more damage was done to my knees since the bike didnt slide out from under me. I really have to get some leather pants and stop riding in jeans, my knees are taking quite the beating, they are still recovering from my green connector melting on me. I was still in the saddle in the proper riding position laying on the tarmac. It happened in a split second, and I can honestly say it caught me 100% off guard. Oh well, live and learn. Good thing my tail section is still getting painted

So since no one likes to read, Ill post the pics and shut up. Let me say this though, I am a serious advocate for ATGATT, if I only had proper pants I would have been completely unharmed. You never know whats going to happen everyone, dress for the crash, not the ride.

Brake lever:

Now Im rockin dual color, and I actually really like it! Im glad I kept the gold levers around.

My poor new rearsets and beautiful header wrap. Oh well, its character

And the knees:

I should have my plastics back soon, so final pics of the bike coming so soon.
