Hi all,

I was wondering if there is any aftermarket part for the piece of metal sheet that we use to measure the alignment of the rear wheel? It is the $4 piece that sits on the rear axle, on both sides of the swingarm (part# 61445-17G00).

I know Suzuki made the SV650 as a competitor for the Duc Monster, but they copied also the crap parts from them, like this piece which, is always bending whenever i am tightening the wheel nut.

So I am looking for a replacement part, more solid, eventually machined from a block aluminum. I know there are for Ducati but not for our SV.

I know a stock sv650 is made probably made to run on 87 octane gas, so if I were to put 100 octane gas would it only be bad for the engine or would it make it any more power?

I was under the idea that it would only help if your engine was tuned to work with that octane level of gas, but the guy at the 76 gas station kept telling me to put in the 100 octane gas in my bike....

I have been doing this for years and it works great. I did not see it posted so I thought I would.

WD-40 and a blue shop towel (any rag'll do) spray a ltittle WD on the chain gooped up spots on the rim and wipe it off, proceed around the wheel, cleans ungooped spots just as well. WD-40 will not harm the paint on wheels and is good for removing chain lube. It is like FM for cleaning wheels.

DO NOT: get WD-40 on the tires or on the brakes it is OIL it will cause unhappiness. Seems overly obvious but worth mentioning

Finally got around to installing some parts I had purchased over the last month or so. The last bit left was my ZX6 shock and motosliders. I know everyone has done these mods, but here are some pics of the process.

I used the ladder method to take the pressure off the swingarm. Ratchet straps made it easy to lift the bike up.

This is what's going in. Yes, i know my fingers look weird but it's b/c there's an empty glove between the shock and my hand

loose fitting the shock to make sure everything lines up

finished!

I did have to cut the battery box for this shock, but I forgot to take pictures of that process

I also put on some Motosliders in place of my old Suzuki OEM sliders. They look a bit big, but I'm definitely happy with the construction and heft of these. The single bolt seems a WHOLE lot sturdier than the two bolt sliders I was using before.

My K3n has 18,000 miles on it. A short while ago I noticed a fair amount of play in the shifter pedal. Some of it was at the shifter pedal bushing but most of it was a wearing heim joint pin.....the one that is pressed and riveted into the shifter pedal itself. It was wobbling noticeably when I moved the pedal slightly. The bike shifted (I thought) decently..... but you should feel it now that I have replaced the shifter! No more inconsistent and sloppy feel. No more missed shifts. Finding neutral is easier. The bike's performance is noticably improved because it feels like a precision machine now. A slight bump up or down on the shifter puts the bike quickly into the desired gear with no fuss or muss. I bought the part from Ron Ayers.....#30 in the Gear Shifting section....$65 + shipping. The best maintence result to date.

I lowsided my bike two weeks ago. The clutch lever and gear shifter and rod broke off. I finally received my new clutch in the mail and test fitted it. I turn the ignition to on, the fuel pump primes, set my bike to neutral even though the shifter is broken, check the kill switch is off, check the instrument panel to see any changes, make sure the clutch kill-switch is plugged in, lift up the kick-stand, battery seems good, pull the clutch in, hit the starter button...... the headlight goes off, but the engine doesnt turn over. I didn't hear a sound at all.

It seems like an electrical issue... I would like to try to fix this issue without paying for towing it to a mechanic. I'm not sure where to go from here?

Whats up guys....

So here's the deal. I just purchased a 2003 cooper SV650S with 1,900miles on it for $3,300. Practically a steal. This guy never rode the bike and kept it in his garage all day every day for the past 7 years.

My question is what do I need to replace or change or check up on?

Everything on the bike, including fluids, all look clean and NEW. (His last oil change was at 1,000 something miles. He has done two oil changes throughout the bikes life. Anyways is there anything I should replace? oil, tires, coolant fluid, brake fluid?

I know you have seen about a thousand of these threads but i have a couple questions before i pick up my final pieces.
Bike being updgraded: 06SV650S
Currently i have(In my possession) All parts are from 08 GSXR 600 unless noted otherwise.
Front and rear rim(saving rear to swap to 180 rear)
Front rotors
Front axle
Forks(stock)
Lower triple clamp
Upper triple clamp(06 GSXR 1000)
Radial master cylinder assembly w/ lever.
Brake Calipers(with good pads)
Front Fender
Clutch Assembly w/ lever

Still Needed
(In the Mail)
Front wheel spacer
Hall effect sensor
Magnets and holders
Steering stem tool (gotten from here)

(Left to Get)
Handle Bars/Clip-ons/Risers
Brake Likes
New set of tires.

I have a few questions regarding the parts i have left to get. Does only having the "S" series wiring harness limit my choice of handlebar/riser options? If so how much rise can i get to? I was leaning towards the 3" woodcraft riser clip-ons or lsl handlebar kit. I know there are some members that have the swatt 3.5" risers, however they all appeared to be conversions from a "N" model.

Once i get my handlebar/riser options figure out i will need to get the brake lines(assuming custom.) Looks like the choices i am leaning towards is Speigler, Galfer(Cyclebrakes), or Roaring Toyz. The only reason Roaring Toyz is on the list is because there shop is about 1 hour from my moms house, so i figure i can my take my front end when i go to to visit and get them to measure it properly. Other 2 have a better warranty on their products. Has anyone out there used the Roaring Toyz custom brake lines? I know with Speigler and Galfer you can just have them add a few inches to their standard kit lengths. Would anyone happen to know how much will be needed to add for the 3" risers?

Thanks in advance!

I purchased a 06-07 ZX10R shock off of craigslist a few months back(shock is made by KYP for those that arn't familiar.) When i got it home and started looking at it closely the preload adjustment rings were torn up. It looks like someone adjusted it with Channel Locks. I am curious if there is someplace i can source new or used rings to replace my current ones. Heck, i am not even sure if it is work replacing(will make it a little easier to adjust on bike.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Also, if I can source the parts is this a possible repair for a novice mechanic?
