Getting Bored of Chat Boards!

By: Max Aronow

And what’s the deal with “lol”? I see this cutesy garbage everywhere from racer chat boards to e-mails I receive from personal friends. Grown men typing “lol”, I can’t believe it! Listen, I’m 38 years old, if I read something funny, I’ll laugh, I don’t need a cue or coaxing from the author. But I would happily live with the “lol” syndrome if we could just get rid of those retarded “happy faces” that you see in al shapes of forms.

You see everything from frowns to angry faces, riding bikes, and flipping you the bird complete with animation. Geez guys, c’mon already, as men we do enough juvenile and retarded stuff like riding motorcycles at ridiculous speeds. Do we really need to plaster our e-mails with happy faces. Who has time to download this crap anyhow? Are you guys looking through your file collection of happy faces to find just the right one to accent your e-mail? I am sure someone somewhere is busy creating these images for 12 year old girls, and is quite pleased to see that their “happy faces” are being used by grown men. Please guys, just say no to happy faces, lol (just kidding, I couldn’t resist).

I find the people who feel the need to end their posts with a quote fascinating. What are they trying to say? Are they saying this is a quote that I live my life by, or I just think this is profound or amusing? I probably wouldn’t mind it if they would at least put a fresh quote in there from time to time, better yet, maybe rotate 5-10 quotes. This would at least give a broader picture of a person personal philosophy’s and would keep me interested in reading them. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t dislike that chat boards, just can’t help but notice some of the wacky idiosyncrasies. And some people are all over the boards, you see their names popping up everywhere. These are the people the feel the need to post a reply on every subject. You gotta love them! Careful of the backyard mechanics, they are always are quick to dispense their profound engineering wisdom! There are some guys that really know what they are talking about, and I have received some good info, but majority of advice would not take too seriously. One important lesson I noticed would be to consider not using your motorcycle brand or model name as part of your screen name. I notice a lot of guys with brand or model incorporated into their screen name, yet they have long since sold that bike and moved on to something else. Hey “cbrsean”, enjoy your new SV!

Or should we call you “SVsean” now! Opinions and a__holes, everyone’s got one, for what it’s worth (and I know it’s not much), that’s mine! This would have been a good place for a “lol” with a smiley face……..must……fight…….temptation! Just needed to vent!!!

NOTE: Yeah, I know it’s not a picture of a SV, just like to look at pictures of myself on the web! Had to take out the Triumph for a little romping for end of season! I have plenty of work to do on my SV this winter to get ready for next race season! I hope to have lots of cool SV pics next season!
